Actor appearing in US memorable film ‘Home Alone’ passes away

US actor John Heard, a household name for appearing as the father in a pair of ‘Home Alone’ movie series, has gone away at the age of 71.

According to the medical examiner's office the actor was 71 when he was pronounced dead. This is while, other reports said he was 72 when he died on Friday, July 21.

With a versatile and prolific on-screen as well as stage career, the actor was best known for his role as Peter McCallister in ‘Home Alone’ original movie and one of its first sequels.

Heard was a successful theater actor before transitioning to film.

The actor's TV career includes roles on shows such as ‘Prison Break’ and ‘Elementary’.

In spite of success with a long line of supporting roles, Heard could never shake his ‘Home Alone’ character.
